Free Movie Series Lights Up the Night

What could be better than watching a classic film outdoors on a beautiful summer night? Watching it for free. This is the basic premise behind the University of Iowa’s weekly summer event, The Saturday Night Free Movie Series. Movies are projected onto a screen outside of Macbride Hall on the Pentacrest.

The front lawn provides ample space for the audience, although everyone is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. I have always been interested in attending one of these screenings but have never found the time. Realizing, however, that there were only a few chances left for the year,
I decided to go to the August 26th screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
